Dance 1b Description
Dance is a universal language, an expressive and vibrant art with the capacity to unify the physical, mental, social, emotional, aesthetic, and spiritual. This intermediate level dance course builds dance knowledge and skills in technique, improvisation, choreography, artistic expression, performance, history, culture, life skills, and connections to other curricular areas. The prerequisite for this course is Dance 1a.

Mandatory Performance
Each student is given the opportunity to perform in the spring concert at the end of the semester. This is a fantastic way to show off what you have learned in class and your performance skills. This is a mandatory concert! If your student cannot make it to this concert, he/she will be given an alternative assignment to complete to make up the points.

- Dress Rehearsal from 3:00-4:00 pm
- Spring Concert at 7:00 pm (Call time will be 6:00)
Absent Make-Up Work
Regular attendance is expected and necessary to be successful in a participation class. If a student is missing for any reason, the student will receive a zero (0) in participation for the day he/she is missing. To receive credit, student must pick an assignment from the options below and complete it and turn it in to receive participation points.

Make Up Options for Mandatory Rehearsals and/or Performances
By doing the assignment you will receive up to 80% on the assignment since you missed the rehearsal/performance
1. Write a one page paper (typed) describing your experience and progress in this class. Turn in a hard copy. Do not email!
2. Attend a dance concert and write a one page paper (typed) describing what we do in class and how it relates to what you see on stage. Staple concert ticket or program to paper. Turn in a hard copy. Do not email!
3. Write a one-page paper on a famous choreographer. Describe their style of work and what made them famous. Turn in a hard copy. Do not email!
4. Take an outside of school dance class and write a one page paper describing your experience. Include teachers name, style of dance, time/date and location. Turn in a hard copy. Do not email!
